This project was inspired by a 200 year old revolving book stand, which can be seen on display in Thomas Jefferson’s office at Monticello. Mr Jefferson’s book stand would hold 5 books (1 on each side and 1 on top) and would close down to a 12 inch X 12 inch cube, when not in use.
My goal was to design and build a revolving book stand that would support the larger and heavier reference books, used in my generation and still in use today. The result was a larger and more ruggedly built book stand that will hold 6 books ( 1 on each side and 2 on top). The 4 side panels are 19 inches wide X 14 inches high. Each panel has 3 angle adjustments. The 2 top panels are 19 inches wide X 9 inches high with 2 angle adjustments.
This piece can be ordered in a variety of wood species.
